ALL ABOUT LOW ENERGY DAYS

We all have them! You go to the gym, you want to do your usual training, you're trying to lift the weight you've lifted with no issues the previous week, and all of a sudden it feels too heavy. And that's because our energy levels always vary. Your workout is also directly impacted by the level of stress. One time I was at the gym doing my workout and my brother called me telling me he will not be able to take his flight. I had a sudden drop of energy and I could only do the rest of my workout with light weights.

What to do on these days?

✅ First and foremost, don't freak out!
✅Don't force it. You have to listen to your body, otherwise, you will end up sacrificing form. The priority should be quality reps.
✅Be reasonable and listen to your body. Lower the weight, choose isolation exercises or go straight to cardio.
✅Drink a lot of water! If you hydrate your body your energy level might slowly increase by the end of the workout.
✅If you feel low energy before heading to the gym, have a snack.
✅Think if there's any particular reason you feel like that. Perhaps you did not have enough sleep. Or if you're a lady, perhaps your period is about to come. Or maybe you had a hard-core workout on the previous day.
✅Listen to your body. It’s ok to skip your workout once in a while. Do something relaxing instead like going for a walk in the park or on the beach (if you stay close to the beach).

Let's talk ‘CLOUDY DAYS’ 🌥

In many cases, low-energy days can come when you are going through a difficult time or a stressful situation. How I deal with cloudy days:

1. SHARING 🐼
While I am a big advocate of privacy, I truly believe that if you share it with a close friend or with a family member, their words can have a positive effect on our mindset. It's not easy to be vulnerable but you have to do that for your mental health.

2. MUSIC🎧
Another thing that helps me a lot is music. A bad day can sometimes be undone when I listen to some of my favorite songs. According to Hopkins Institute, it seems that research has shown that listening to music can reduce anxiety, as well as improve the mood.

3. SPORTS🤾🏻
The third tip: sweat it out with some cardio! Whether it's anger, frustration, or sadness, you can't go wrong if you go outside and have a run or go for a cardio class. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine.

4. MEDITATE
Sometimes all you need is to disconnect from your busy life. Meditation is actually an awesome and often underrated cure for low energy. Your mind needs to relax so that your body can relax. They are connected.
