6 EASY TO FOLLOW TIPS TO MAINTAIN YOUR PHYSIQUE ALL YEAR ROUND
If you want to have a lean physique all year round, you need to make sacrifices all year round!
You need to hear this: losing weight is easy compared to maintaining. When you are on a diet, you know that you will restrict yourself for a limited period of time until you will achieve a certain goal. On the other hand, to maintain a lean physique and a low body fat means you need to *always* watch the foods that you eat.
This is not a sad truth, it is a reality that most trainers avoid telling you. If your mindset is oriented around dieting to achieve a certain body goal or a specific weight, you should try to look further and think of a plan regarding what you will have to do once you have reached that goal. Thus, you will need to change your entire lifestyle in order to maintain those results after your diet is over. And details matter.
Some tips from me that I have implemented in my life and that helped me to maintain my physique:
✅Change your eating habits. If you managed to stick to two slices of bread instead of 4 while dieting, then chances are you will get used to this habit. Switching to healthier eating habits will not only help you maintain but will also have tons of benefits on your health and your overall well-being.
✅Find balance. I usually eat 80% healthy foods and 20% whatever I want. You don’t have to restrict yourself all the time, but you need to do your best to stay away from unhealthy foods or high-calorie foods (which are most of the time the same thing).
✅Reduce portions and eat sloooowly. If you finish your food too fast you’ll tend to eat more than you actually need. It takes around 20 minutes for your brain to reach satiety once you start eating. If you struggle to reduce your portions, I advise filling your plate with veggies and low-calorie foods. And you can always add one fruit at the end of your meal for extra satiety and a vitamin boost.
✅Find the healthier version of your favorite food. Do you like ice cream? Instead of choosing all those highly caloric ice creams, go for sorbet. And check the number of calories. In the supermarket, I shop they have chocolate ice cream from different brands, from 130 calories per scoop to 350 calories per scoop. That's quite a difference. So make sure you always check the labels before buying anything.
✅Think of your goal every morning and say it out loud 'I want to maintain this body. I worked so hard for it!' I promise it will keep you motivated throughout the day when you are tempted by all sorts of foods that might ruin your progress.
✅Avoid being on your phone or watching TV while eating. If you do that it will only make you overeat. When you eat just eat and don’t do anything else. Multiple studies have shown that we have the tendency to eat more when we are distracted.
